Caboche Suspension Lamp

I’m going to pretend we could all afford to purchase the Caboche Suspension Lamp by Eliana Gerotto & Patricia Urquiola. It’s so incredibly lovely. There’s 189 clustered transparent globes (made of polymethylmetacrylate) and a white matte finish glass shade that directs the light just where it needs to be, and of course optimizes the pretty factor.

dimensions: 19.75″dia x 78.75″ max height

Price: $1493.00

Concave Oil Lamps

This little lamp appears to be glowing with no energy source (wouldn’t that be nice?) when really the oil is under the concave, stainless surface.

Diameter 10.5″

Thanks, William!

Lab Vases

Did you want to be a scientist when you were growing up? What happened to that dream anyways? Well, at least you can look like it’s still a hobby with these Lab Vases. They’re discontinued, so you better hurry if you want ’em.

Made from authentic laboratory glass.

Pro-Ject Debut III Mu

I sometimes assume that everyone has seen some things, so then I don’t post something that really everyone should see. This has been one of those things, and today, while perusing a magazine, I happened upon it again. I certainly will not pretend to know much about record players, ’cause I don’t, but I will tell you that I think it’s the prettiest player I’ve seen. (Please see website for tons of info and specifics that you’ll be interested in if you have a record collection.)

“An Excellent choice for the audiophile seeking a cost effective vinyl playback solution.”

Oh, I’ve got to also say it’s available in so many good colors (like shiny red, blue, cream, white(!), yellow, acidish green, etc.).

Price: $300.00

simple flatware

About a year ago I bought some “modern” flatware. It looked great at first but then after a while it started to get rusty. It’s because it was not stainless steel. I learned my lesson. This flatware is mirror-finished 18/8 stainless steel. Dishwasher safe.

Flatware set : Four five-piece settings of salad fork, dinner fork, knife, soupspoon and teaspoon. 6.5″โ€“9″l.

Serving set : 9″l fork and 8.5″l spoon.

Skull &Crossbones Journal

I am amused by this particular journal, not only because it has a silk twill cover (with tonal diagonal stripes), but also because of who it’s sold by (you’ll have to click on the link to see). I think this would qualify as a good gift, don’t you?

“One hundred fourteen beautiful lined pages with embossed silver edges, a satin bookmark”

“Last pages include a perpetual calendar, international weather information, world time zones and weight and measure conversions.”

Price: $55.00

Bubbles Rug

Do you think if I added this to my wishlist somehow it would appear in my home around the holiday gift-giving time of year? I’ll have a kernel of hope that it would be so, but maybe I’ll start another savings/money pile for it just in case. Hand knotted with 100% New Zealand wool (11mm pile height).

Also available in green.
7×7 feet

Update: This item is no longer available through original retailer. (2/16/10)

“Less is More” beach towel

If Mies Van Der Rohe were going to the beach, what would he bring to lounge on? I think it would be this beach towel.

I know this is not “season appropriate” but it’s on sale and maybe some of you are planning a nice little holiday trip to a sunny beach somewhere.

Arne Jacobsen Flatware

Do you want a piece of history? How about a piece of the future?

“A minimalist classic, this flatware represents the essence of the Danish modern style and has been in continuous production since it was first designed. Used as the flatware of the crew in Stanley Kubrick’s film, “2001, A Space Odyssey,” the futuristic-looking set is sleek, with the handles only slightly differentiated, and the knife blade indicated by only a subtle indentation. The five-piece place setting is made of matte-finish 18/8 stainless steel by Georg Jensen.”

Price: $115.00

Digital Dinner Plate Set

For those days when you’re feeling a bit pixelated, you can pull out your digital dinnerware to cheer yourself up. High-grade, dishwasher-safe melamine plastic plates (don’t microwave them).

Rap Art

Ruthless, my style as a juvenile…
Who doesn’t want a vector-type image of a rapper (dead or alive) superimposed over a bad thrift-store landscape? I know I do.

SongBook radio (red)

This little baby has everything you need to get out of bed in the morning (except a cup of coffee). It’s a radio and a digital alarm clock in one, with auto/manual tuning and 5 station presets, as well as an auxiliary input jack for other devices (like a CD player or MP3 player) just in case you need that too. An external power supply is included or you might choose to use the rechargeable battery-powered option. My favorite part is color options- it’s available in the nice red you see here, or black, white, and yellow.

Also, it’s casing is made of weather resistant rubber.
