Have you seen any of the Nanoleaf LED light bulbs yet? What about the Nanoleaf Smart Ivy? Most LED light bulbs are not attractive, and the Nanoleaf isn’t particularly pretty either. However, it is faceted (=dodecahedron) with tiny LED lights in the shape of a regular bulb, and that makes it interesting. There are different variations in size and color, plus the Smart version mentioned before, which you can control wirelessly via your device. Kinda fun, huh?

A reversible, two-tone polygon quilt? Yes and yes. I personally own the Mega Dot Quilt from Hay, and it’s the perfect weight for summer use. Now that they’ve added polygons to the mix, it’s certainly tempting… you can never have too many quilts, right? How’s this for a way to display your prized plants? Created by Japan-based designer 10¹² TERRA, this minimalist container was designed so that a plant is suspended within, thus allowing its intricate root system to be displayed. The top portion has a grid that holds the plant while the bottom portion holds water; this two part system makes it easy to replace the water when needed and showcases the plant in its entirety.

Hey, how about a string, a weight, and some anchors to hold up your important photos and notes? That sounds dreadfully dull, but it’s not, I promise. My Spot is just a very, very minimal approach to a pin board. A spiny head of a hand-picked teasel doesn’t sound pretty, but up close it’s a beauty to behold. Dipsacus fullonum is the plant’s proper name, by the way, and the prickly bracts are friendlier to inspect and admire when enclosed safely within polyester resin. It may be an excellent gift for anyone who appreciates botanical oddities, but I’d say you could justify purchasing one for yourself, as it is a paperweight, and therefore can be classified under office supplies. Spring has sprung, so you might as well clean out the cobwebs and bring in a little color in the form of a Scholten & Baijings Pillow or two. With bright colors and characteristic patterned grids, any one of them will inject a little pizzazz into a tired room. Now, on to the trouble of deciding which ones to get (the blue and pink ones are my favorite).

Hmm, perhaps we all need to upgrade our honey dippers- if we even have one to begin with, that is. The hexagonal shape of a honeycomb attached to a polished stainless steel handle allows honey to drizzle easily into your tea or toast. Designer Miriam Mirri brought this clever idea into existence, and we might just have to say it’s the coolest honey-drizzling tool to ever cross our computer screens.

These three glasses are shaped differently yet each hold the same amount of liquid, hence their name. The familial likeness combined with the slight shape variation would add interest and movement to a table top, and, best of all, they’re stackable, so they’ll take up less space than normal glasses.

It doesn’t take much deductive reasoning to select this Holmes Sconce from Schoolhouse Electric as one of the better options in the marketplace. Triangles! In various colors! On a black background! Come on, take a risk on rug, why don’t you. It’s pretty affordable, and, bonus points, it’s handwoven in India in a Fair Trade Certified™ facility. The triangle pattern is a little jazzy (in a good way) and could be just the thing to add a little bit of fun to a room.

One thing is for sure, these desk accessories aren’t going anywhere. They’ll not be tipped over or jostled easily, as they’re made of hefty concrete with subtle, curved edges. We first posted this collection back in 2011, so you know they’ll not be lumped in with those ‘trendy’ sorts of office supplies. All pieces are hand-cast from solid concrete.

This little lamp takes its inspiration from the sea- think lighthouse beacons and buoys. At 8.5″ high and 7.5″ in diameter, it’s small enough to fit on a desk or large side table without taking up a lot of visual space, especially as there’s no traditional cloth lampshade. The base is made of reclaimed American red and white oak beams and the shade is thick, tinted grey glass.
