Remember this little guy? The Pixo Lamp incorporates a USB port in its base, which means more convenience when charging our mobile devices. However many times you’ve reached behind your sofa/bed/table/desk to pick up a charging cable, you know it’s been too many.

There are other impressive things about this lamp (360 degree rotating head, three-axis articulating stem, uses just five watts thanks to low-energy LEDs, etc.) but all we’re going to appreciate right now is the USB port (Hat tip to designers Pablo and Fernando Pardo for this small yet significant detail). Paper towel holders aren’t big business, so there’s not a plethora of options out there to fit a picky person’s aesthetic. However, Ferm Living comes to the rescue with this Hexagon Stand. Made of solid brass (matte polished) and a marble base, it’s subtle and, dare I say, beautiful. Does a paper towel holder deserve such high praise? This one does.

These bright Twergi Spice Grinders have a vintage appeal that’s bound to stay timeless thanks to their classic wood-turned shapes and bold red/black/yellow color scheme. Italian designer Ettore Sottsass and his team of designers were responsible for Alessi’s range of wooden products during the 80s and 90s, and, thankfully, they created these beech wood grinders that highlight some of the wiser color combinations of two rather daring (and some might say questionable) design decades.

Do you think people would look at me funny if I chose to eat all of my meals with a kids’ cutlery set? Not if they recognized Arne Jacobsen’s typography, right? This four-piece alphabet cutlery set is pretty cute, and, if I had kids, I would insist they use these until they could say the alphabet forwards and backwards. This set was designed by Arne’s grandson Tobias Jacobsen, and belongs to the Design Letters tableware set.

However, it’s a bottle opener, and it will help you pry off the top of your beverage with little effort. How about a bright, modular floor system that has no F’s, L’s, O’s, or R’s in its name? Well, I take back the O and R, as the name Kinder GROUND has those. No floor adhesive necessary, the Kinder GROUND system has various geometric shapes that fit together to create nontraditional rug sizes. LED lamps are obviously energy efficient, and this one has a pretty large spread of light considering its size. With a 359 degree swiveling head and a double pantograph arm, you can easily position it just the way you want. This probably isn’t the ideal time to introduce you to the Hex Tree Swing, as we’re firmly in the autumnal season, but, hey, why not make the most out of these last lovely days before winter hits? Or, be a bit braver and hang it indoors, I dare you. The hexagonally-shaped seat is made of sustainably-sourced Black Locust wood and hangs from 25 feet of 3/4″ natural manila rope. Both ends are whipped to prevent the rope from unraveling.
