This series of 30 ceramic plates is guaranteed to make your meals more interesting. You could just get a few, or the whole thing (if you have that sort of money). One thing is for certain, you’ll not be accused of boring tableware.
“Using different original plates from the Royal Tichebaar Makkum collection, each piece is partly hand-painted and partly printed. Mix and match the patterns to enliven your table with vibrant bursts of color…”

“Hella Jongerius turns imperfections into ideals with the B-set dinner service. Each piece is fired in an overheated kiln to slightly warp the porcelain into uniquely distorted shapes. The result is a curiously charming dinner-set, unified by its consistent inconsistencies.
The porcelain and glaze recipes used are stamped on the side of each item as a tribute to the ceramics recipe culture.”

Though this might be slightly more expensive than your average plate, it certainly sounds nice to say, “Please bring out the fine bone china”… as well as that, it looks to have an awfully nice black and white pattern which would probably push it into the ‘timeless’ category.

I suggest taking a closer look at the design of these plates, as each is inspired by a different part of Los Angeles.
Designed by Kathleen Walsh.
“The art style is modeled after a style hispanic paper cutting art called ‘papel picado’ or perforated paper – helping to add to the authenticity of the series.”
The four designs are entitled: ‘christmukkah on fairfax’, ‘olvera street’, ‘la brea tar pits’, and ‘magnolia trees on doheny’.

These plates are nice and graphic, and the green pattern might help make your tabletop setting a bit more interesting…
“Sagaform is a Swedish company that makes clean, well designed products that are good looking, practical and affordable. These glass plates come in a set of four, each one decorated with a bold and brilliant flower pattern. Both the larger dinner plates and the small side plates have the same designs.”

The City Plate features four cities (Los Angeles, Shanghai, Cairo, and Berlin) chosen for their “sprawl” and depicted with a black background.
Key buildings are represented with red icons, while rivers and public spaces are shown in vivid blue and green.

I saw one of these plates a while ago, and was quite sad to learn that it was not available to purchase. So, of course, to my delight, it is now available as a set with three other really great graphic designs. I like them so much I’d be tempted to hang them on the wall.
