Just so you know, the Duck Duck Pillows have a bunch of fun color combinations, and they’re all kind of perfect for the sofa, or a reading chair, or as an accent pillow (or two) on the bed (don’t go overboard*). My favorite? Color Mix 5 or Color Mix 3, I can’t quite decide.

I bet this cushion would kick ass in a pillow fight, though you might prefer to take a nap instead as it looks so delightfully soft. Icelandic designer Ragnheiður Ösps Sigurðardóttir was making legs for stuffed teddy bears when inspiration hit: why not tie the flexible tubes into a knot? And this comfortable, soft, sculptural cushion is the result. Pretty fun, don’t you think?

Spring has sprung, so you might as well clean out the cobwebs and bring in a little color in the form of a Scholten & Baijings Pillow or two. With bright colors and characteristic patterned grids, any one of them will inject a little pizzazz into a tired room. Now, on to the trouble of deciding which ones to get (the blue and pink ones are my favorite).

It’s a cactus pillow! Kikkerland adds to its collection of photo-realistic head pillows (see their Log Head Rest if you aren’t familiar) with this seemingly spikey option with a microbead fill and a breathable spandex cover. It isn’t the most luxurious of materials, but it will comfortably support your head, back, neck, or feet with a cheerful and slightly irreverent look.

This isn’t your normal pillow, and that is exactly its charm. Instead of one semi-fluffy square (so boring!), the Knot Pillow is one long tube of cotton fluffiness sewn in silk pongee fabric, hand painted and tied up in a large knot. Fun, right? And especially handy in a pillow fight, I’d think.

Does anyone else feel like it’s hard to find the right sort of accent pillow? You don’t want anything too wacky, and sometimes a solid block of color seems too safe (and a little boring). Perhaps some might sort these Fragment Cushions from Ferm Living into the wacky pile, but I think they’re fun, and have a bolder color scheme that would inject a good bit of pattern into an otherwise ho-hum room.

Normally, one would tend to stay away from overly bright colors and busy patterns in interior settings to avoid looking too crazy, but that’s all forgotten once one sees the printed cushions by Nathalie Du Pasquier. Yes, the patterns are bright and busy, and that’s exactly their appeal- they just make sense.

In a reluctant nod to the holiday that is Valentine’s Day, I present you with the Heartwarmer Cushion. It may be placed in the microwave or freezer to warm or cool whatever region that may need it. These pillows might seem a little silly to people who don’t have pets, but if you’ve ever had a beloved four-legged friend, you’ll certainly understand. Strange pillows, you say? Well, let’s just take a closer look. In collaboration with artist Chad Wys, mineheart is offering these digitally printed portrait cushions that are delightfully weird- and one that’s altogether creepy. Using similar imagery to classic old masters paintings, each design plays around with parts of the face to create a strange mix of digital erasure and traditional portrait painting. Interesting.

Scrabble pillows. It was only a matter of time, really, before these hit the radar. And, if you want to shop around, it looks like Etsy has quite a few sellers offering their own versions in different sizes and such. These pillows (available from Spoon Sisters) are printed on organic cotton and measure 15.75″ square.
