Okay, ‘love’ would be an appropriate word to describe my feelings towards these Cactus Vases by Serax. Texture! Color! Shape! And, of course, they look like cacti. Would you believe that we originally featured Marcel Wanders’ Sponge Vase way back in the fall of 2007? Here’s a quick lesson on how it’s made: a sponge form is dipped into fluid porcelain clay, then fired in an oven where the sponge burns away, leaving only the porcelain form in its place. Neat, right? I’d count it among one of the top gifts for any discerning design fan, as it’s a special object that looks good with or without something in it.

There’s nothing like a couple of Tree Trunk Vases to cheer you up. This cartoonish version of a tree trunk by British designer Richard Woods is for the newish Wrong for Hay collection (take a look, everything is pretty fun). Yes, that’s the same Richard Woods of the Wrongwoods line, which is an earlier collaboration between Woods and Sebastian Wrong (thank goodness they get along). I bet this vase would bring thoughts of happy characters triapsing through the woods, and also provide an excellent receptacle for branches, flowers and stems, of course.
