Thinking of You Vase Covers

Hurray for recycled vase covers that are particularly pretty- packed flat, they arrive ready for you to unfold and arrange. Do I need to point out that these would also make lovely gifts?

“Designer Tord Boontje has a history of taking recycled industrial materials and turning them into something functional. With his Thinking of You Vase Cover, an ordinary bottle is transformed into a centerpiece. The Vase Cover arrives packed flat, and is easily assembled around your found object. Choose from three designs or group all three for a festive, sparkling display. The Vase Covers feature delicate flowers, butterflies and nature-inspired shapes on arching tendrils that bounce and twist.”

Flat-Pack Vase

I’m having fantasies of becoming an urban nomad, roaming from one metropolitan city to the next. I’m planning on having a small cadre of products that can be flat-packed and easily transported. This is my first official entry to that effect. Let’s see how it goes.

E-LI-LI Vase

This vase looks like a delicately turned piece of paper.

The Alessi E-LI-LI Vase adds a striking architectural element to tabletop decor in a 2005 design by Mandrelli and Doriana Fukas. The ceramic version of the E-LI-LI Vase is slightly larger than the stainless steel version.

Paper Vase: Low Bottle

A long, long time ago I think I posted some vases just like this but in a different shape. I think I might like the shape of this one ever so slightly more.

“Fun, sculptural shape with a delightful surprise: each piece is made from pages and pages of bookbound, recycled newspaper. The paper has been fanned around a recycled aluminum vase insert to create a form that is soft and pleasing to the touch. The insert is removable to allow for easy filling and cleaning.”

Propeller Vase

I am quite taken with the shape of this vase.

“Munro creates a vase that’s both organic and industrial in feel. During the firing process, each ceramic vase is placed in a kiln of burning wood. When the wood touches the surface, it creates unique patterns and subtle colorations, so no two are exactly alike.”

Hand-wash only.
8.75h x 7.5w x 3″ diam
Designed by Keith Munro.

Vase Maker

I think we’ve all seen this before but for some reason its genius is just striking me now.

“Vase Maker dissects the classic vase into its two functional elements: support for the flower and a container for the water that sustains it. You can place it upon a vessel of your choice – a wine glass, teapot, even another vase – to essentially design and redesign it with every use. The Vase Maker is a recent recipient of a design award in the RedDot International Product Design Competition.
Made of porcelain. Hand wash only.”

Astéroïde Vase

I’m not a big “vase” person (prounounced either way), but this one is amazing. I’ve seen it before*, but I don’t think it was in the context of something that could be purchased. Each one has 24 facets so it can be positioned in any way.
