Vases

Ran-Over-By-Car Vase

Holy cow! Look at these! Craziness, huh? They’re results of accidents with cars!

“Before the accident, each vase is the same height and diameter and a bend at 2, 3, or 4 inches. Then there is the accident which makes each vase unique – transforming it, jarring it, scratching it – then black enamel is applied to the piece.”

2″ diameter x 10″ height

Playing upon nature’s natural defense mechanisms, this vase by Kathleen Walsh for Walkteria Living is humorous as well as slightly dangerous.

Transglass Vases

I’ve seen these talked about in several different places, and most recently happened upon them when perusing Moss’s site (which is always dangerous for me). Made of recycled wine and beer bottles, these vases are the result of a collaboration between Emma Woffenden and Tord Boontje.

“The idea behind the collection is to use what we have. We take away, we appropriate, we transform. Hard, sharp, clean forms, original colours, as found within the bottles. We believe that Transglass is a glassware collection with a contemporary beauty that shows a positive attitude toward the environment.”

The color of each varies, of course, so you could end up with shades of green, clear and brown, and perhaps slightly different sizes- but that just means they’re more special.

Recycled Paper Vases

These vases are made entirely out of recycled newspaper and aluminum. Since they’re bound like a book, you can pull apart the pages to see what’s on them, and, of course, the aluminum insert is removable for easy filling.

Urbana Veneer Vase

If you’re looking for a good-looking vase, here it is. I’m really falling in love with the color peeking out from inside as well as the wood grain and overall shape. It might just be one of those things that we’re just gonna have to buy, whether we need it or not. I think the ebony/blue one is calling out my name (or maybe just my credit card number).

Fully waterproof.
Satin lacquer finish.

Intoto Float Vase

The float vase was inspired by a wine bottle partially submerged in the ocean, hinting that what’s there isn’t there, and what isn’t there, infact, is.
