Remember the Intersect Valet posted a couple of weeks ago? John Dixon, of DIXON Branded, has a few other items in his shop, one of which is this Considered Curtain Rod. The final length of the rod is determined and cut by you, the end user, to specifically fit your windows. There’s just enough of a DIY-feel to make you look incredibly handy, but do be sure to have a saw on hand before you go bragging to your friends.

At last! We can stop our search for the perfect window coverings, for Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec have come to the rescue with the Ready Made Curtain kit, and it’s finally available to purchase. A curtain and its complete hanging system are included, and with a few assembly steps, you’ll have one heck of a modern curtain that you can brag about. Oh, but wait, there’s the issue of the price; you’d assume that a kit that requires a little elbow grease from someone such as yourself might be budget-friendly, maybe around the $200 or even $300 mark, as I did when I called the retailer. Prepare yourself, and expect to pay around $470 per kit/window… or keep searching, as I will.

Okay, bear with me here, I know this just looks like a regular curtain rod/bracket, but it has something the sets it apart, and if you’ve ever been annoyed by light creeping in around your curtains- at night or in the morning- you’ll understand why this particular one is special. The Twilight bracket wraps around so that your curtains can lay flat against the wall. Such a small detail, but it certainly makes a big difference to those of us persnickety about dark rooms. So, no more little slivers of moonlight/sunlight that tend to find your face while you’re trying to catch some much needed sleep.

I don’t know if you feel the same way, but I’ve always struggled a tiny bit with deciding on window coverings. Finding something that provided privacy without being too formal or too frilly, or frankly, too I-just-bought-this-from-IKEA, is always a long drawn out search, with the result often being I end up making something myself. I should add that this DIY window covering is hastily made and almost always unfinished. The solution might just be getting this textured tyvek curtain. It looks soft, modern and entirely interesting.

This is certainly an affordable solution to dividing a room or “treating” a window. It’s especially nice that no drilling is required, and since it appears to be easily moveable, you could put it where you please whenever you want.
