Do you remember this chair by John Reeves? It’s remarkable: a stool becomes a chair and vice versa, simply by lifting or lowering the seat back. Several chairs can be stacked as stools, leaving a very small footprint for a whole lot of seating. Perhaps this same idea has been employed before, but I’d reckon it would be hard to find a sample with the same degree of thoughtful design and simplicity. Nice! This petite shelf system uses powerful neodymium magnets to hold each shelf to a metal panel. That means you can move the shelves around as you wish, and use them to hold up papers, photos, etc. so you won’t misplace anything (ever). The back panel measures in at 18″ x 24″, so it could fit in all sorts of spots.

Hmm… the idea behind this Sphere Table is to be commended, but I believe we’ll all have differing opinions as to the choice of materials. Now, considering this table was created by Hella Jongerius as a special furniture piece for North Delegates Lounge at the United Nations headquarters in New York, it’s understandable that it has a commercial feel that some may not like for their own home’s interior. The opalescent acrylic glass that forms the ‘bubble’ would definitely be more at home in a futuristic setting than in a more worn-in, vintage room, yet we all know that having a private and sheltered space when working is valuable, and certain things that allow us such space are worth getting used to.

Every once in a while I’ll have to plug in the name of a piece into BLTD’s search bar to see if we’ve posted it before, which is no surprise, really, considering there’s over 8,000 posts and my memory refuses to remember them all. Such was the case with this Babel Shelving System. It’s modular, so you can place the block modules in the layout you desire, as long as you maintain a staggered design to keep it structurally sound. I smell a DIY opportunity for someone crafty with a table saw and a whole lot of patience (and math skills). However, if you avoid DIY projects like the plague, luckily the pricing isn’t so prohibitive that you can’t save up for it (eventually).

Smokey Purple, please. Or Pewter… or one of the other several lovely colors paired with smoke on ash wood (or white oak). Primary colors might not be your thing, but you might want to reconsider when it comes to buying the next storage piece for your home, as Moooi has some new color options for their Paper Collection by Studio Job.
