I love this so much it hurts my feelings. It’s still currently in prototype, but frankly I’ve been bored with all the available options for shelving so I wanted to post something a little more exciting. From a Tokyo based design firm called MicroWorks–the designers discovered that books tilted at a 4 degree angle don’t accumulate dust as quickly as books which are stored flat. Whatever the reason for the tilt, I love it.

Hmm, although the price is a bit dear, this off-kilter console would add a tiny bit of crazy to your room, in a good way…though I suppose it’s up to you to decide if you need any more of that or not.

‘twisted’ is a console table, a wall mounted display cabinet, a vertical bookshelf – or all three. Four in-line boxes frame the twisted one, creating a subtle focal point. I love the slim arms on the Bottoni line by Marcel Wanders. It really adds an edge of sophistication.

So, straight off, take note that the prices are separate for the base and glass tops, because you can most likely source a glass or wood top for less than the retailer’s quote (which they actually recommend considering shipment costs). That said, these are exceptionally affordable for the design quality and would most likely be an extremely smart purchase for your home.

The coffee tables are assembled from eight identical pieces and feature a system of central joining that imitates the trunks and branches of trees, where the strength of the whole comes from distributing the work amongst all the limbs. These pieces can be used with either a circular glass top, or a birch plywood surface. The Árbol collection won second place at the National Design Biennial 2007, Mexico City.

Tables with lengths of 114.2″, 126″ & 137.8″ the legs can be attached at the very end of the table or 17.7″ inside. With a length of 153.5″, the legs can only be attached 17.7″ inside from the ends.

How much would you pay for a handy all-in-one seat, tray, and table that folds away flat? Not $900? I thought so, me either. It’s such a shame; it’s so incredibly smart and useful, yet it’s too steep of a price for most.

As one of you recently pointed out, there’s quite a few inexpensive trestle options out there, and you can get whatever sized top you want from a glass shop or hardware store.

On the left, is Urban Outfitter’s Sawhorse Table Legs, which at $38.00 for a set of two is a pretty good deal, and actually less expensive than the sawhorses on the right. However, the ones on the right are ‘real’ sawhorses, so they’re probably a bit more sturdy as well as adjustable. I actually used these yellow sawhorses as a work table base in my office/studio when I lived in Houston. It’s hard to tell, but from the side these sawhorses actually have a little Prouve-ish feel, or at least that’s what I thought of them (it’s the angled steel in a bright color, I think). If you don’t mind an industrial-edgy look, they do the job wonderfully and will hold up well over time, either in your studio/office space or in the garage for odd jobs.

Seeing as I’m mightily impressed by this shelving unit, you might be too. Morgan of The Brick House built this unit out of plumbing pipe and fittings for about $200 (and apparently a lot of frustration). As a pet owner myself, I have to say this little pet carrier looks to have a handful of benefits over my existing plastic crates. It’s a bed that converts into a carrier, but it’s the extra accessories enabling travel ease that has me curious. I’d check it out if you’re not so happy with your current carrier.
