Made from steel plate, these stools and cabinet have a semi-cartoonish feel about them and in this particular case, that’s a very good thing.

Gentleman’s chamber 1953 is a fusion of nature and interior, traditional elements from a gentleman’s chamber are brought back to their essence and are reinterpreted from the point of view of the animals. This stool is made out of tree trunks or that how it appears to be. On a closer inspection you will notice they are actually made out of steel plate.

Bring the outdoors inside with this series from Normann Copenhagen’s New Danish Modern furniture collection. The Camping series consists of chairs, table, stool and daybed in moulded beech wood and leather and man-oh-man does it look impressive. It oozes craftmanship; I’d love to see it in person.

Jesper K. Thomsen explains: “The archetypical traditional camping equipment has been my inspiration. The design has a recognition factor that brings the thoughts over to leisure and togetherness, that many think are typical of camping. I like the thought of bringing outdoor pursuits indoors or, perhaps more correctly, freedom in to the living room. Hans Sandgren Jakobsen’s award-winning Gallery was originally designed in 1998 for the Copenhagen Art Association and was meant to be a stool guests could sit on while they enjoyed the paintings on show. Wrapped in foam, this stool can be rolled onto its various surfaces for different seating experiences. It’s not often you get a playful piece of furniture looking so simple (as in, not bright pink or stripes or what not), so I’d say it’s a wonderful choice for extra seating.

Quite possibly the perfect alternative to some of the more ubiquitous midcentury lounge chairs, the Papa Easy Chair (2001) by Jonas Lindvall is one of my favorite picks for a lounge chair, public or private.

Messing with a good thing can sometimes be disastrous, but other times it’s interesting and strange in a good way, which is the case of this interpretation of the Eames classic.

Modernica’s design studio has collaborated with artist Peter Shire to design the Prince Charles Chair based on the company’s Case Study Fiberglass shell chair and playfully named after the originator of the design, Charles Eames…The Prince Charles chair is an elegant and ironic juxtaposition – past and present.
