Honestly, I don’t think you need to feel like you’re being excessive about spending $2500 on a sofa. Good furniture is expensive to make. It will probably outlast you. Think about it. If you have it for the next 40 years, that’s only $67 a year.

This is my favorite sofa shape and here it is for less than a grand.

There has been a lot of talk about the new Ikea collection but this is one of the first things that just doesn’t shout “I’m from the Swedish ubiquitous retailer!”. And what’s most exciting is that the cover is removable (dry clean only, but that’s better than nothing). If nothing else, you can take the cover to an upholsterer and have it reproduced in a different color.

There are four attributes that leads me to believe this is a wise purchase for those of you in the market for a sofa:
1. It measures eight feet in length.
2. The pillows can be removed to create a daybed-like sleeping surface on which one or two people can curl up.
3. The linen-blend upholstery cover is fully removable for dry cleaning, and features Velcro® tabs for a snug, glove-like fit.
4. The pillows are filled with down.

Right now you can take advantage of the summer sale frenzy by buying yourself that new sofa that you’ve been meaning to purchase. Here are two excellent style/shapes for very excellent prices.

This sofa fits the bill: sturdy construction, slimline arms, tufted seat and great lines.

This is pricey but I love it! It’s referred to as a “system” because the four elements can be moved around in numerous ways to create different seating arrangements.

And for those of you wondering, yes, the backrest cushions have non-slip pads to keep them in place.

Now here’s what I’m talking about. This is exactly the kind of sofa I’ve been looking for. It’s got great lines, blind-tufting and would be great for lounging.

I usually gag at the use of the word ‘retro’ because it’s usually far over used to the point of being meaningless(much like the Ebay favorite “Eames Era”). So, other than not liking the title, this sofa is a pretty good deal for how relatively nice it is.

I really like the tufting on this sofa.

What’s this? A modern sofa under $1000? My antennae go up when I hear these words, and I have to say that often I’m disappointed with quality or else the “modern” style is way overdone. Not in this case though. I’m a big fan of the bench seat and square arms, and the aluminum legs add a nice contemporary touch to the overall style. It’s a good deal in my book.
