Nowadays, if perusing the market for a decent sofa, there isn’t much to choose from in the modernist’s middle-of-the-road budget. That’s why it’s really nice to run across a quality product for less than a grand. This particular sofa has clean, simple lines and a nice microfiber fabric to keep any spills from causing a catastrophe.

Hmm. I think this sofa is a good choice if you are on a limited budget…it’s also completely customizable (if that’s a word) with a variety of microfiber, leather and other fabrics to choose from. Apparently you can also change the “size and shape of any piece to suit your needs”. Not a bad deal.

If you’re looking for a modern sofa, and if you’re planning on having it for a while, I recommend the Bottoni. The size and shape are simple and sophisticated, yet the price tag doesn’t knock all the wind out of your lungs. Really, when you think about all the time you spend on a sofa and how long you’ll have it (years?), and consider the cost per month, it’s really a steal. One of the perks of this particular sofa is that there are small blanket-type things (sold separately) that can customize the seat back if you were wanting a bit more pattern.

The Klein Sofa’s not a bad option if you’re looking for a straight arm sectional. Available in either left or right chaise configurations. Also available in two different sofa lengths.

Do I need to say that this looks way better than anything that falls under the category of “futon”? I think I probably don’t, but just in case, if you’re thinking about a sit/sleep double action sofa, I recommend serious consideration of this particular sofa. It looks good.

For a relatively inexpensive sofa, this is not a bad choice. It folds down into a bed and it’s available in leather (add $280).

Verner Panton created many innovative furniture pieces in the sixties and seventies, and the Living Tower is the most innovative of them all. A forerunner of the “micro-environments” trend which encouraged social interraction, the Living Tower was constructed of a wood frame upholstered with wool over foam padding.

I’m not sure how durable this thing is but it’s nice enough for the price.

It’s a sleeper sofa! It’s refreshing to see a truly modern sofa hide the practicality of a sleeper so well.

This sofa is intended for children, but I think it would do quite well as a chair. Two or three would work well together for some low seating and wouldn’t break the bank.

I just made a new friend over at Grass Roots Modern and he has some pretty cool stuff on his site. My favorite is this amazingly cheap and attractive sofa.

This particular sofa is notable for it’s price as well as the overall shape and style. There’s lots of fabric options to choose from, so that’s nice if you’re not too keen on the mocha-ish color shown. If I had to personally advise you on the quality of this sofa, I’d say it’d be worth the money spent.
