This is perhaps the best economy daybed I’ve ever seen. The chrome and powder coated steel legs are perfect.

If you’re on a budget, don’t mind really thin veneers, and want leather, this is a nice little streamlined piece.

I’ve always loved shelter arm sofas, they are so comforting and comfortable, and at this price, I don’t think you could go wrong.
“High arm, high back, high drama. New-century cocoon cozies up like a room in a room. Referencing prairie and ranch with a spare horizontal point of view. Chocolate hopsack weave is a neutral slate brown ready to take on any pillow, any wall color. Solid maple legs taper 50s style.”

I collect vintage interior design/decorating books, and a particular favorite I found at a university library sale: Bloomingdale’s Book of Home Decorating, published in 1972. The first picture you see as you flip through its sepia tinged pages is of a sunken living room, resembling a cave, with white fur covering almost every surface, from the floor to the walls to the ceiling. It’s so far over-the-top that I love it, that is what was so fun about decorating in the Seventies!
Imagine my surprise as I was shopping around this morning to find this amazing sofa from cheeky design firm Moooi. If you happen to have a sunken living room, I highly suggest you purchase this sofa in conjunction with several yards of faux fur to complete this designer look. The link below provides some inforamtion with more to come.

Anyone else think the “window” looks trompe’loie?

Blu Dot is one of those companies who can’t seem to misstep; every product they introduce becomes an instant favorite of mine. The new Couchoid upholstery group is no exception. A recessed chrome base makes the solid sofa appear to float, and the dense seat, back, and arms have just enough detail to avoid looking like a big block of foam. The only problem is that I don’t think any pillows would look good on this, so let’s hope it’s as comfortable as it is striking.
Hardwood frame, high density foam. Upholstered in a leather alternative in dark brown,
white, or robin’s egg blue with contrasting stitching.

“The Vega Collection (2005) provides a unique solution for environments used for socializing, lounging and sleeping. Created by designers Busk & Hertzog, Vega consists of a multifunctional Sofa, Chaise and Ottoman. When a larger Sofa is needed, the Chaise and Ottoman are ready to oblige; slide the pieces together to create the required size. Should a sectional be in order, three or more pieces can be quickly combined. For further flexibility, the arm of the sofa can be positioned on either side and changed on a whim. The Sofa and Chaise transform into comfortable sleepers by sliding the seats – which rest on metal bases with internal tracks – and folding down the backs. Use a flat sheet for best fit. Two down pillows are included with the Sofa and one with the Chaise. Made in Denmark.”

This is a great execution of a sleeper sofa with a 77.5″ x 47″ sleeping area. Not only is it easy to convert from day to night mode, but it is also has a removable slip cover.
“In 2004, the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design awarded the Pierrot Sleeper its Good Design Award, an international recognition of innovative product design.”

You can’t beat this sofa bed for the price.
“In spite of its minimalist looks it offers excellent comfort, thanks to high quality filling and wooden slats in the seat. Roomy and comfortable while not taking up too much space. Even more surprising is the ease with which the sofa converts into a double bed.

I love this sofa.
“In Holland Polder refers to the artificial land reclaimed from the sea by means of dikes and drainage canals. The corpus of the Polder Sofa is just as low-lying, just as flat, and with just as much emphasis on the horizontal. For it Hella Jongerius chose five carefully selected combinations of colours and fabric qualities, accentuating them with high-tech threads and large buttons made of natural materials.” Materials: wooden frame with belt upholstery, backrest cushions: polyurethane chips and microfibres, textured surface and seat cushion: polyurethane foam and polyester wool, armrest with sand weights, buttons made of natural materials.
Available in with left-hand armrest or right-hand armrest Available in two sizes: XL and XXL

“It’s the conversation pits. Three easy modular pieces— armless chair, corner seat, ottoman—rubik’s cube their way into endless scenarios in no-show, can’t-miss black. Build a 4-piece pit: you can hang out for the whole weekend and never leave. Same height corner backs have a cozy sheltering effect. Thick, comfy cushions have a clean top-stitch detail at the edge. (Great asset: rubber-capped feet keep pieces in place on hardwood floors, and won’t scratch.)”
• Kiln-dried solid hardwood frame
• Steel sinuous wire seating
• Poly foam cushioning with fiber wrapping
• 100% unbrushed cotton with top-stitching
• Removable, adjustable, legs with no-skid rubber
• Made in USA

I thought this was noteworthy because it is extremely affordable. Also, the upholstery is felted wool and not some of the cheaper upholstery you might expect on an economical choice such as the Anna Loveseat.
“Anna is an enigma, part dramatic, part pragmatic yet fully sophisticated. Sleek, urban design features a low profile that surrounds you with dense foam cushions and soft felted wool. Attached cushions. Durable hardwood frames with chrome legs.”

This sofa is custom made with your own fabric. You provide 8 or 9 yards of your favorite material (depending on if you choose the 2 or 3 seater) and 8 to 16 weeks later, you get your sofa.
“Frame of chromium-plated steel. Upholstered hardwood frame, upholstery of polyurethane with padding. Cover of fabric (removable).
Juno looks good from every angle. lt thus deserves to be placed in a dominant position: free-standing in the room and accessible from all sides. You can even sit on the wide backrest.
The sofa thus becomes a spontaneous, communicative meeting place. The single loose cushion creates an interesting asymmetry – and it is always there as an armrest where it is needed.”
