My aunt and uncle have lived in the same Chicago apartment since the 60’s. Also in that apartment since the 60’s was an amazing walnut tension rod shelving system. I was thrilled when they offered it to me and it now proudly stands in my office. Even though it holds about a ton of books, it still has an amazing visual lightness to it. I can’t tell you how much I love mine. If you want to experience the same joy from something that just performs a simple function, you can buy some from Moss. The great thing about it is that it can be reconfigured if you move or if your needs change.

Here’s a bookcase for you that is relatively inexpensive and kinda neat-looking. A satin-finish steel frame gives this a modern feel without adding a modern price tag. That always makes me happy. Assembly is required, so have your toolbox handy when it arrives.

These are decent stackable “storage squares” for reasonable prices…Each Qube is available in burnt maple or espresso and is made with a sturdy laminate finish. The divider/shelf things are steel, so that’s kind of different and sturdy too. You could use them for all sorts of things: bathroom towels and stuff, organizing your office, living room, or the wine qubes for your dining room. And the Container Store says they’re easy to assemble.

So, I can basically afford a bookend of this modular bookcase. Look at it though, it’s quite nice. The book-stops that you see hold the units together…which is pretty smart, and it’s made of plywood honeycomb that’s lacquered (in white macroter finishing). (I don’t know what macroter finishing is, but I’m sure you could find out.)

Yep, I know it’s good. Problem is that it’s hard (for me) to figure out how much it is or how to get it.
