I don’t need to point out the obvious benefits to wall mounting furniture, right? That they reduce visual space, making them perfect for small spaces? Okay, good.

This simple little stool works well in a bedroom as a sidetable or in spaces where you could use multiple seating options.

There is a lot of bourgeois happening in this photo, but I appreciate the straightlined modern interpretation of the console table.

Such a perfect little table- indoors or out.
“When designing his Pix Table (2002), Peter Schaffner had four specific goals: The table had to be multipurpose, timeless and space saving, as well as easy to assemble. The ingenious result is a patented table that has only three parts: a plate (or tabletop) and two x-shaped components that form the base. When assembled, the rim of the plate clicks into place over the stable, four-footed base…
The polyester powder coating ensures durable weather- and UV-resistance, and makes Pix suitable for indoor and outdoor use. In less than a minute, Pix can be set up or disassembled and stored flat.”

If you’re a fan of large chunks of wood that seem to fit into modern interiors quite well, here’s a table/stool that qualifies as interesting. They’re made from fallen trees, so they are environmentally friendly, and, since they are put together by hand, the natural characteristics are preserved.
Natural oil finish.

The Origami tables are made from identical flat pressed steel legs that slot together to assemble the tripod base. On each leg there are two slots, each positioned on a different 3 point plane in space. This makes the joints tighten when a load is placed on the table and will never fall apart. NO screws are required; no bolts, pegs or fixings of any sort.
Designer: Anthony Dickens
Available in White, Black and Chrome

A few other retailers offer the Parsons dining table with various top options, but this particular one is a little less expensive. (I also have happened upon the information that you can buy the base separately if you wanted to make your own top…)
– Top grade hot-rolled steel tube
– Precision-welded with honed joints
– Semi-transparent powder-coat finish on base
– Top is sapele veneer over engineered hardwood
– Base made in the USA
72″Wx42″Dx29.5″H
Update: This item is no longer available through original retailer, but occasional tables in the same style/design are available. (11/11/09)

If you’ve seen this before, sorry for the repeat. If you haven’t, may I call attention to the simple structural design and nice color choices?
“Stucture and design are one with the Strut. A proud stance for any gathering. Choose ivory or robinโs egg blue for a subtle impact, or dark olive or watermelon for more punch power.”

This piece is strong enough to stand on it’s own in a large room (it would have to, considering the price).
“a sculptural and flowing desk design from jeff miller that pushes multi-ply wood curvature technology to new limits.
two identical pieces of curved multi-ply wood form the legs and base, supporting a matching multi-ply top that almost appears to float above the base and legs.”

I love the bi-level feature of this table. I would like a desk like this.
“Laminated baltic birch plywood with veneered outside edges or laminated mdf painted white, finished with a durable clear lacquer. Veneers currently available include walnut, maple, and cherry. Email for pricing info on all other wood veneers.”
