These round Dot Tables are quite the buy at $150 and $400 respectively. It’s a lot of that clean-lined look for a rather reasonable price tag (in my opinion).

Plywood has been used relatively widely in the world of art-based design in the past few years. This little side table is made in Germany of pine-plywood has an octagonal base.

Dimensions: 13″ around and 14″ high.

If you’ve not jumped on the get-a-tree-stump-for-a-side-table bandwagon, now’s your chance.

Each wood piece is unique, crafted from fallen cypress trees.

Partly why this table is inexpensive is that it’s painted wood veneer, and if you’ve ever had anything of the same, you know there’s a good chance of the paint finish chipping or dinging the minute you pick it up. But, that said, if you’re not needing something super durable (i.e. kid proof) you might consider snapping up one or two for side tables. Plus, who knows, maybe this table will exceed expectations.

Rich Brilliant and Willing is one of my new favorite design houses and the trio are definitely ones to watch. Their new Matryoshka table featureswood slats with each seam being overlapped by the one next to it.

The table gets its name because each of the three sizes (End, Cocktail & Coffee) – can nest inside one another, like Matryoshka Dolls.

Second hand tables get a new lease of life with etched stainless steel tops. It’s a stellar idea, and I sort of love the traditional lace-work design paired with steel. I love this Aluminum Side Table by Muji. It would be great as bedside tables or I’m even thinking it would be great as a mobile unit for a record player.

These 100% recycled stool/tables are double the fun (sort of like the gum) with their affordable price tags and quirky made-from-woodscraps design.

Stump series started in the industrial garbage cans in the area near our factory. Small pieces of hardwood are thrown from carpentries in the area in large quantities. Through the series development it became clear that we can reduce costs and become socially involved through passing some of the production to a factory which employs disabled people.

So, straight off, take note that the prices are separate for the base and glass tops, because you can most likely source a glass or wood top for less than the retailer’s quote (which they actually recommend considering shipment costs). That said, these are exceptionally affordable for the design quality and would most likely be an extremely smart purchase for your home.

The coffee tables are assembled from eight identical pieces and feature a system of central joining that imitates the trunks and branches of trees, where the strength of the whole comes from distributing the work amongst all the limbs. These pieces can be used with either a circular glass top, or a birch plywood surface. The Árbol collection won second place at the National Design Biennial 2007, Mexico City.

I like the looks of this little table. Very architectural, but in a light sort of way. Nice.

Yet another product from the new Ikea PS collection. This little table is one of the highlights in my opinion. For the price, the shape and size are hard to beat, and maybe this won’t make a lot of sense, but somehow it doesn’t seem overly Ikea to me…that might change with time, but I hope not.

This is a perfect little side table at a nice little price point.

Hmm. Four steel clamps (‘revived’ production equipment) are improvised legs for whatever surface you might find. They can be attached and removed easily and have an adjustable height of 15.75″ to 19″. While this allows for a fair amount of creativity, the material requires a certain appreciation of industrial elements. Not everyone wants steel clamps as table legs, but for the select few of you that do, I’m sure you’ll have fun deciding what your table top will be.
