Nixon TPS Portable Speaker

I’ve had the Card Speaker on my wish list for a while now but I think I’ve found a replacement with the release of this new speaker. The Nixon TPS is a portable speaker system made for media players and notebook computers. The battery charges through USB and is good for 6 hours of jams. Two can be linked together for enhanced stereo separation and volume. Available in silver, green, and black.

dockXtender

It’s a dock extender, simple as that. If your phone case is too big for your docking station or if you just need extra distance, plug in the extender and your troubles are solved, at least one of them anyways. Compatible with all iPad, iPhone and iPod models.

Pulpop Speakers

The more stuff made out of recycled paper, the better. So why not speakers? These speakers by Balance Studio are made from recycled paper pulp and use vibration speaker technology to “intensify the sound through the surface on which they stand, as well as through the hollow space inside the doughnut.” Sounds pretty good, doesn’t it?

Nasty Clamp

Take a Joby Gorillapod and mate it with a spring clamp and you’ll have the Nasty Clamp, a handy clamp-anywhere, infinitely adjustable tripod. The flexible arm can also be extended by adding additional lengths available in the accessories store. They’re admittedly not pretty to look at it, but can be absolute life-savers while on a shoot. Nasty.

ARKCANARY II

Don’t get too excited, it’s not a modern day earhorn for your less-than-great hearing (though I suppose you could try it out to see if it works), it’s an analog acoustic speaker for the iPhone 4. You know all about acoustic speakers, as we’ve posted several, but this pint sized version seems all the more charming because of its size (and because it looks like an earhorn).

AIRbudz

Can you guess what this is from the photo above? If your guess had anything to do with earbuds, you’re right. AIRbudz is an earbud attachement that allows you to hear ambient noise while you’re listening to music. When you’re out walking or running, certain noises can alert you to potential safety hazards (like bikes, cars, buses) and unfortunately your regular headphones muffle, if not completely silence, those sounds that alert you to danger. The AIRbudz have air channels that let ambient noise in- thus keeping you aware of your surroundings without sacrificing your soundtrack. It’s currently a Kickstarter project, and for $10 or more you’ll get one of the first sets.

Plug, External Battery Backup

If your iPhone or iPad is continually short on battery life, pay attention. This “plug” charges your device without an electrical cable, so you can top up your battery on the go (or maybe keep it just for emergencies). It gives an iPhone 30% of battery capacity and fully charges an iPod to ~100%.

Envelope iPad Case

Taking inspiration from traditional manila envelopes, this polyurethane iPad case has a string and button closure. The contrasting color string is an especially nice yet subtle touch- my favorite is the grey case with orange string. The case fits iPad 1 and iPad 2, as well as the iPad Smart Cover.

Available in grey, red, and black.

iErnest camera strap

Ooo, take a look at this very nice camera strap. It has an elastic shock absorber (it’s adjustable) to reduce neck and shoulder pressure as well as a few extra details that set it far above your current strap. There’s no plastic parts or connectors, and small leather discs pad the metal D-rings and protect your camera. There’s also a concealed neoprene neck pad for extra comfort. Oh, and, of course, it looks (and probably feels) expensive because it is.

Joby Gorillapod Micro

These tripods were released last year but have since flew under my radar until a recent visit to The Moma Design Store. Joby are the experts are in making compact, infinitely adjustable tripods. If you don’t know the name you certainly know the design. After expanding their market to carry bigger, heavier SLRS and video cameras, they’ve decided to size down for their next major product release. The Gorillapod Mirco is designed to always stay on your camera, prepared for any impromptu shot. Simply fan out the legs and prop on a surface. It’s quite remarkable that they were able to squeeze a rotating and tilting ball head into such a small design. Available in two sizes: the Micro 250 and the more robust Micro 800.

Twig Pod

This pointy footed monopod will assist you on your outdoor travels. It collapses down to 8″ and works just like a tent rod with a bungee tension line so you can assemble it in a snap. A ball-head mount allows for vertical or horizontal (or whatever angle) shots. It’s intended for compact cameras (fits standard tripod thread ), so you pros with DSLRs are out of luck.

Magnus Stand for iPad 2

I know you’ve most likely seen this, as it’s been making the rounds, but it’s just too perfect to not feature here on BLTD. There’s no visible means of support from the front, so your view is entirely uninterrupted. This is done by the use of magnets, of course, and allow for the simplest design in providing you the right viewing angle whilst working (or playing, as the case may be).

Clap Digital Camera

This Clap Digital Camera won’t compete with Hipstamatic or Instagram for its social aspect, but it’ll provide a different kind of vintage vibe to your shutter snapping; spontaneity. Keeping your camera on your necklace on in your front pocket ensures a never missed opportunity to catch that moment from last night’s party.
