Raise your hand if you like using plastic bags to protect and organize your gear. If so, maybe you’re ready to upgrade from disposable food bags to the DriStore Bags. Kalon Shaving Set

What, you’re not particularly fond of your razor? Well, there’ll be none of that once you get your hands on this shaving set, because each piece is handmade in Los Angeles with black walnut and natural vegan tan leather hanging straps. Oh, and the shaving brush has a 100% natural, silver tipped badger knot, which is only the “most luxurious and rarest of badger knots.” You’re bound to feel pretty special whenever you shave… perhaps this could make an excellent Father’s Day gift?

Ledr Tool Roll

How to keep your various pens, pencils, and tools organized while you’re on the go? Get a tool roll, of course. This one, available as a Kickstarter project, has spots for 9 items. Two slots are wider to accommodate larger tools, and the overall height of the taller version is 7.5″, so you’ll be able to carry longer things like knitting needles and/or screwdrivers.

Pumice Stones

Umm, how odd and sort of wonderful are these Pumice Stones from Fredericks and Mae? Let’s just appreciate how combining two tools in one is clever, and also how this combination makes it more sculptural and special. Use one to help clean, shave, exfoliate, etc., and note how one would look perfectly at home left out on a ledge or countertop (artfully arranged with your other things, of course).

Brushhanger

Are you always looking for a decent clothes brush when you travel? Check out the Brushanger from Tim Parsons. It’s an updated version of an original design from the 1930s. The hanger folds up to form a handle for the central brush, allowing you to brush off your coat/jacket efficiently. And, of course, that makes the Brushanger easier to pack away in your luggage as well.

Koinobori Travel Laundry Bag

You may scoff at this travel laundry bag, as it’s not the fanciest, nor the most efficient. However, when one is living out of a hotel room, as I am now, one tends to appreciate a brightly colored bag for less-than-fresh clothes that’s slim enough to fit snugly inside a shallow drawer or stuffed suitcase. It’s certainly more cheerful than a space bag, that I can tell you.

Ostrich Pillow Go

Remember the Ostrich Travel Pillow from Banana Things? Those same good folks are back with the Ostrich Pillow Go, which is a little more like your normal travel neck pillow, but better. Total neck support is possible thanks to the big, comfy headrest made of high-sensitivity memory foam. Hidden magnetic buttons ensure three different positions for all neck sizes. You may still get a few funny looks walking through the airport or train station, but you’ll have had a wonderful, restful journey, while all those other suckers will be complaining about neck pain. Note: there’s only 22 hours left to back the project over on Kickstarter.

Timeless Travel Planner

Do your travel plans need a little more organization? That’s just what this planner aims to provide, with pages to specifically map out where you’re going, track expenses, and plan your itinerary. The amount of detail is spot on, as it has places to note current exchange rates, as well as entertainment, accommodation and transportation costs. There’s also room to list your very important ‘To Do’s’ before you leave. Does this mean you’ll travel smarter? Probably, as it would be hard not to take advantage of such an easy system. And maybe, just maybe, getting all your info written down in such a manner will free you up to enjoy your journey more.

Ostrich Travel Pillow

You might need this Ostrich Travel Pillow. Actually, let me rephrase that. You NEED THIS TRAVEL PILLOW. Sure, it looks a little neck-bracey, but it’s going to change your life. Use it as a combined eye mask and head pillow during your commute or on a long journey, or, hell, even while you’re at your desk. Naps can improve mood, alertness and performance, after all. The super soft cover contains lots of silicone micro-beads that support your head, block light, and muffle sound. Perfect. Amazing. Life-changing. And I’m only half-way kidding about the last one.

Wary Meyers Soap

It’s okay to be filthy when soap looks this good. Wary Meyers has all sorts of colorful stripes happening in their collection of glycerine soaps, and it’s enough to tempt one away from a push pump and go completely with the old tried and true bar o’ soap. Shall we purchase a few to show off in a soap dish for guests? Or will we be entirely selfish and enjoy them for ourselves? Maybe the trick is buy enough to do both.

The Ockham Razor

Razors aren’t pretty. No matter how many designers and ad teams try to convince us that their super-duper-bajillion-bladed plastic handle looks cool, it just doesn’t. So, why hasn’t someone created the Ockham Razor before now? Who knows, maybe the world just wasn’t ready for it yet. The Ockham is precision cast from solid metal that’s easy to keep clean- no ridges or bits of plastic that pick up soap and limescale. Simple ergonomics and a balanced weight make it comfortable to hold and use. Back the project on Kickstarter to get your very own (only two days left, fyi).

Travel Toothbrush Holder

The words ‘toothbrush holder’ and ‘cool’ have never belonged in the same sentence, as far as I can tell, but that changes with this particular holder by Cedes Milano. You can also add the word ‘expensive’ into that mix, as it’s not cheap (just warning you). The hinged bottom is chrome plated and it has a tempered glass top with a very small hole to make sure no moisture gets trapped. Does it look cool? Yes. Will it protect your toothbrush? Definitely. Is it a little fussy and a tad pretentious? Maybe. Do you still want it? Don’t be embarrassed to say yes.

Tangram Travel Organizer

It’s almost the end of February, which prompts this question: is it time to take a trip somewhere? It really doesn’t matter where, as long as it’s not extremely cold (unless you’re skiing or snowboarding). This Tangram Travel Organizer cleverly folds up in a flat, triangular fold to make packing easy. Unfold at your destination- use the elastic loop as a hook if you wish- to see everything neatly organized.

Isaac Reina Dopp Kit

What do you buy when you’re design conscious, travel often, and have loads of money? An Isaac Reina Dopp Kit, that’s what. The square box-like shape converts handily into 2-compartment tray with the convertible snaps at the bottom, making all your toiletries organized and easily accessible. And, if you’re scoffing at those numbers in the price tag, consider the fact that Isaac Reina has worked in the Parisian house of Hermes, and his bags and accessories are only available in “select directional boutiques”.

Swivel Spork And Knife Set

Well, if the MoMA Store is carrying a Spork, then you know it’s an acceptable utensil to have in your everyday bag, camping backpack, or travel carry-on. Should you see anyone turn up their nose at your use of an orange, swiveling Spork and/or Knife, simply inform them that Wei Young designed the set in 2012 out of BPA-Free plastic and metal. Or just smirk in self-satisfaction at your preparedness: you have an eating utensil, after all, and it’s clean. Or flip them the bird, it’s up to you.
