This simple, utilitarian chair is quite inexpensive and well made.
Designer: Niko Kralj
“If you ask most older architects to pick their favorite folding chair design, there’s a good chance they’ll refer you to the Rex Armchair. Designed in 1952 by award-winning Slovenian designer Niko Kralj, the Rex appeals to the trained—and untrained—eye with its simple solid birch wood construction and fluid folding mechanism. Despite its storage capability, the design’s wide, comfortable seat and backrest, and sloping armrests invite frequent use in a lounge or office. When folded, the armchair measures less than six inches wide. Made in Russia.”
Available from DWR, $128.00.
