Thomas Heatherwick (of recent <a href=\"http:\/\/www.heatherwick.com\/uk-pavilion\/\" target=\"_blank\" >UK Pavillion<\/a> fame) was inspired by the craft of large scale metal spinning used to make Timpani drums. Using a rotationally symmetrical form, the Spun Chair appears to be more sculpture when upright, yet when lent on its side, it becomes a comfortable and playful chair. This version of the chair by Magis (shown above) is made of plastic rather than metal, which means it can be used outdoors and eventually recycled.<\/p>\n<p>Designed by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.heatherwick.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" >Thomas Heatherwick<\/a> and manufactured by Magis.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\nMaterial: Rotational-molded polyethylene.
