At first glance I had a rather negative response to this ring- it’s huge, made from a cowrie shell, a little too luxury-in-excess etc., but after looking at it a while I kind of love it, probably for the same reasons. And, yes, you did read that right, it’s $800.

This could be a great way to solve minor domestic disputes.

We saw these at ICFF at the Pure Austrian Design booth last year and it looks like they finally hit the market. It’s basically a large pattern made of Tyvek (the super strong material used in FedEx packaging) which allows you to cut out a pattern (with 10 to choose from on the same sheet) and make your own bag.

“Detailed instructions allow the user to turn one of them from a 2D graphic into a 3D accessoire. All you need is a pair of scissors, a sewing-machine and a sheet of Sac à faire.

It’s a product, which involves the user in the process of production, allows him/her to build up a relationship to the object and to be proud of the result.”

Here’s a little nostalgia for your modern technology. It’s a USB key that is packaged in an old mix-tape packaging. But enjoy it while you can as the USB key technology will seem antiquated anyday now. They’ll probably come up with some kind of nano-technology brain wave nonsense. Mark my words.

I’m still a little fuzzy on how this works, but if I got one, I would just say it’s magic. Might be a good stocking stuffer if you’re still doing some holiday shopping (and, if you’re still way behind and freaking out because there’s basically no time, gift cards might be an excellent solution)…

I don’t know if you’ve ever been to a country where you feared your passport was in danger of sticky hands, but I sure have and I really really wished this was around then…(I think I got one of those thigh strap holders and it sucked, to put it bluntly. I ended up sticking my passport in my camera bag, which increased my fears about getting mugged on the streets about ten thousand times. A sock would have been much better.)
